Today we continue our journey into the F2012/W 2013 season with other three brands which recently had their presentation at the New York Fashion Week. This time we had in mind to present collections which in a way or another are specific to a certain place and to a certain group of people in terms of inspiration but they come international and wide appreciated through designer’s creativity. Hope you will enjoy our proposals and think about them and what will best suite your wardrobe.
Carlos Miele stays to true to his Brazilian heritage and gets inspired by the Southern region of Brazil where the land is dominated by country farms and cattle breeders. His eponymous brand proposal for F2012/W2013 felt very attached to a specific people and place being highlighted by pairs of cropped crepe pants, soft wool ponchos mixed with flat, black boleros and fur. The pants can be perfect for horseback riding or country side holidays, and the capes were inserted with a wide band of patterned woven silk. The geometric interweaving on the capes was Miele’s interpretation of the region’s traditional embroideries.
For night dresses the creative director and owner of the brand came up with the idea of horizontal strips of thinly spaced silk. The ribbons, in color of azure , were attached to a nude tulle underlay, and they moved apart as the model walked, creating the impression of a Venetian blind peeking open and shut. We can only say this collection is sexy, and has a southern air from the Brazilian country side which is mild, cozy and feminine.
Chris Benz is a CFDA-winning designer who established an eponymous line launched in 2007. He became quickly a buyers’ favorite with orders from retailers like Saks and Neiman Marcus. His design style looks slouchy but feminine, sporty but put together. Prior to establishing his own label, Chris Benz worked with Marc Jacobs and J.Crew. This being said, the next cold season collection was inspired by women who take time for dressing up as if it was a ritual. The Chris Benz fall collection has pillbox hats and a retro vibe of the clothing. The retro inspiration can be see in voluminous petticoats paired with shrunken cardigans reminiscent of sweaters from the 50s’. Slim cigarette pants were paired with astrakhan pullovers trimmed in mink making you believe they came out of a mid 50′s movie. Another summer will make place for a cinematographic autumn, we would say.
Tribal-Aztec influenced patterns, tapestry motifs, and “third eye” symbols appeared on signature screened silk dresses and intarsia knits. This is the F2012/W2013 presented by Mara Hoffman. The creative director and owner of the eponymous brand stated that she collaborated for the jewelry accessories with All For The Mountain featuring complementary Mayan calendar talismanic charm necklaces. With a bohemian look wearing cozy shawl-collar wrap coat and graphic beaded tweed cloaks, Mara Hoffman women will make the autumn seem spring and winter will feel like a pale summer.
